About Coras's Story
This is Cora and Clover — a sweet, energetic pair of identical 3-year-old twins. Anyone who has met them knows how much joy they bring into every room they burst into. They are truly special girls who leave a lasting mark on everyone they meet.
On May 1st, after taking Cora to the pediatrician for a swollen eye, the Tacke family received news that turned their world upside down. Doctors discovered a tumor next to Cora’s right eye that is threatening her vision. Following an emergency biopsy, the tumor was found to be malignant. One of the hardest parts of this journey for Cora has been being separated from her twin sister, Clover. In any other moment, Clover would be right by her side — giggling together or trying to trick people into believing they were the other twin. The girls have never known life apart, and the long hours of scans, testing, and hospital stays without her best friend beside her have been confusing and heartbreaking for Cora.
There is still a great deal of uncertainty ahead as the full biopsy results are still pending, but doctors believe Cora will likely require extensive treatment in the weeks and months to come. Since discovering the tumor, Cora’s mom, Sunshine, has had to stop working indefinitely to care for her. Her father, Brayden, has also had to take an undetermined leave of absence to support their family during this incredibly difficult time. Your donation will help ease the financial burden of lost income, medical expenses not covered by insurance, travel, and the many unexpected costs that come with caring for a seriously ill child. Most importantly, it will allow Cora’s family to focus fully on what matters most: helping their little girl fight this battle.
